Welcome to the Nehalem River Inn, where history meets hospitality in the heart of the Nehalem Valley. The innkeepers, Heather Newman and Chris Anderson, share a passion for preserving the past and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Heather Newman

Heather Newman's journey into the world of innkeeping was fueled by a love for historic architecture and a deep appreciation for the stories old buildings hold. She brings a wealth of experience in property restoration and a keen eye for detail to the Nehalem River Inn. Before embarking on this exciting new chapter at the inn, Heather and Chris successfully owned and operated the Inn at Arch Cape, just a stone's throw away from the picturesque shores of the Oregon coast. Heather's dedication to preserving the past shines through in every carefully curated corner of our inn, ensuring that guests feel a true connection to the rich history of this remarkable building.

Chris Anderson

Chris Anderson's passion for hospitality and his craftsmanship are the driving forces behind the Nehalem River Inn's transformation. With over two decades of experience restoring properties to their former glory, Chris has a remarkable ability to breathe life back into historic spaces while maintaining their authentic charm. His love for carpentry, design, and attention to every architectural detail ensures that the inn retains its timeless appeal.

Chris and Heather's previous restoration projects, including the revitalization of a 1920s-era Masonic Lodge, have become local treasures that continue to captivate visitors and residents alike.

Nehalem River Inn: A Historic Gem

The Nehalem River Inn holds a special place in our hearts, not only for its stunning location but also for its historical significance.

Once a bustling general store and tavern serving the town of Mohler, this storied building is an integral part of the Nehalem Valley's tangible past. Our comprehensive 18-month renovation project was driven by a desire to honor its history while providing a comfortable retreat for our guests. We've preserved the inn's unique character and incorporated modern amenities to create a welcoming oasis where you can unwind, relax, and make your own memories.

We look forward to sharing the warmth and charm of the Nehalem River Inn with you, whether you're seeking a peaceful getaway, a romantic escape, or a glimpse into the past. Join us in celebrating the art of preservation and the beauty of history. Your journey begins here, at the Nehalem River Inn.
